Singularity is defined here as a theoretical point in time where artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence. However, this is confusing to most people because they have not understood the parameter at which artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence. Is it processing power? In terms of clock speed, the first ever computer in the 1940s had a clock speed of 100 kHz (100,000 cycles per second), which was already thousands of times faster than the brain’s typical 10-100 Hz firing rate. Is it memory capacity? Well with that, it took computers a little while longer, but today in 2024 we have reached a point where supercomputers and data centers can have exabytes (EB) of storage (1 exabyte = 1,000 petabytes), which far exceeds the brain’s estimated memory capacity. If it's not only processing power and memory capacity, what else could it be that humans have, that computers did not have before, but will have some day? Subscribe to explore.
